Tradesman by Soulcraft...

In between arranging for the arrival and shipping out frames (including some frames that weren't supposed to ship), I picked up a medium Soulcraft Tradesman that finally got built this last week.  I built it with a complete Shimano SLX kit.  The frame's bottom bracket is a PF30 so I used a RaceFace PF30 to 24mm bottom bracket.  It's a nice piece that doesn't incorporate adapters.  Less chance of creaky, creaky.  The other key parts are hand built wheels with WTB Frequency i19 rims, WTB Wolverine TCS tires (all set up tubeless), XT rear hub, SRAM X.9 15mm front hub, Fox fork with the CTD thing, Thomson stem, Ritchey seat post, Salsa bars...  Good just go out and ride the heck out of it build.  $3995 as it sits.  Just in time for Christmas.

They're here...

As it might be surmised, the frames arrived on Monday.  Unloading and organizing by frame size followed along with pulling frames that were already sold.  Frameset QC check ensued.  This involved checking frame alignment, paint and decals, a few measurements, check crankset fitment - all good.  The frames that were sold with headsets had cups and races installed and installation of the minor parts that come with the frame:  dropout adjusters, threaded cable stops, front derailleur roller.  Five of these frames were picked up by FedEx today for delivery to their new homes.  Several more are in various stages of gathering parts for building.  And I still had to finish repairs on three other bikes that came in.  Busy.

The gray frames turned out better than expected.  The decals that are somewhat black/white/gray scale look really great on the gray.  In the ensuing days, I have some interesting builds that will be taking place and will post pictures of those as they happen.  There are going to be some great looking bikes finding new homes from right here in Pt. Reyes Station to points around the states.  For now, here are a couple views of the new gray frames.  The only drawback to showing off this great looking frame is that, with the exception of the 50cm and 65cm size, they are sold out.

Cross frame update...

First, I want to thank everyone who has pre-paid for your cross frames.  I'm pretty much totally overwhelmed by the response to this second run of frames.  As it stands today, gray 56, 59, and 62 are sold out.  There are two 50cm, one 53cm, and several 65cm frames available in gray.  All sizes in orange are available.  Maybe when I order the third run of frames, I'll order equal amounts of two colors - whatever they happen to be.  It seems the color I order the fewer of, the more popular it is.

Second, it's looking like the frames will be delivered today, Monday.  I suppose something could delay them one day, but the word is delivery Monday.  It's also looking like it's going to rain so I'll be hustling to get them off the pallets and into my storage container.  I'll need a day to make sure everything is okay and get headsets and bottom brackets installed for those who ordered them with headsets and/or bottom brackets.  I'm aiming to get the pre-sold frames shipped on Wednesday, Thursday at the latest.  FedEx doesn't make a daily stop at the shop and I need to schedule pickups and because I'm out of FedEx's "day of" pick up range, it takes a day for FedEx to pick up the frames.  I'll be sending e-mails to everyone who ordered with a tracking number to those frames being shipped.

Now to wait for the truck and hope it's during a break in the rain...

12-12-12 update...

Now that I have info, I can update folks.  First bit of info, the boat with the frames is at the dock in Oakland.  It should be unloaded today then the frames need to get through customs and finally trucked up to Pt. Reyes Station.  I'm guessing early next week for arrival here, but it could be quicker.  As soon as I hear more info, I'll pass it on.

As for the "Fortnight of Cyber Specials," that's still on until through the 14th.  So far quite a few people have taken advantage of the specials.  There is only one of the FSA crank/bb sets available, but there is no limit to the tire or headset or brake offerings.  Two days to go.

On the first production run of frames, I ordered approximately 75% root beer and 25% orange.  Orange sold out well in advance of the root beer.  For the second run of frames, the color mix is similar, but with orange at 75% and gray at 25%.  It seems gray is now the new orange with it being pre-sold at a much greater rate than orange.  If you are sitting on the fence and hemming and hawing, but you like the gray, I suggest ordering early.  There are only two each of 50cm, 53cm, 56cm, and 62cm gray available now.  As you notice, I didn't mention gray 59cm as it is sold out.  There is good supply of both orange and gray 65cm frames and good supply of all orange frames.

Two days to get free stuff with your cross frame order.  And thank you to those who pre-ordered your frames.
